About: 1987 Cape Dory 330

Do you know the story of the 330 as opposed to the 33 (Taller mast, re-done cockpit, bow pulpit, changed cabin, etc. ) The CD330 is an updated version of the Cape Dory which incorporated the largerT cockpit of the CD36 and CD40 to provide greater access and seating within the cockpit. She is easily single-handed with her self-tending staysail and versatile cutter rig. Her teak bowsprit allows for a forward Yankee with cockpit furling. The mast height on the 330 is taller than the mast height of the 33. Below decks, her spacious cabin continues to incorporate some of the design cues from the CD36 as she has a large galley area that runs the length of the aft cabin and a full navigation station. Her head is spacious and includes a separate shower stall which is unique for a boat her length. We bought her in 1989 or 1991. And began sinking money into her beloved self. 3 or 4 Awlgrip paint jobs, beginning with Robinhood Marine in Georgetown, formally owned by Andy Vavolotis founder of Cape Dory. They took good care of Annie Laurie for over 10 years, many upgrades and super maintenance. She has always been stored inside. SAILS She came with the Hood in mast roller furler system. We rather liked it and never had trouble with it. Solves the should I reef problem reef however you want We went through many headsail types. Full cut genoa, high cut genoa. finally decided on a high cut Yankee. Replaced Cape Dory jib with Berig jib My unit was custom made by Berig it also had full battens in jib along with the camber spar. Holds its shape excellent sail and rig. The final rig is the Berig plus a Yankee on a roller furler. I love the combination. When at the helm by myself, often just use the Berig, yankee adds speed unless you are trying to get somewhere and are pointing high. Cape Dories are not J-boats Berig and Yankee are newish Berig two years old and Yankee three. Main is about five years old. All sails washed and stored every year. Varnished every winter. Complete electrical refit by crazy talented electrition when she was at the Paul E. Luke yard in East Boothbay for a few years. He did lots, including re-wiring batteries, panel, adding Solar Panel this is all off the top of my head. New Yanmar engine in 2006. New feathering (Paul E. Luke) prop in 2007. Light bulbs in cabin lights have been upgraded. Settee cushions and V-berth cushions have been replaced with new foam. (but not new covers, they have been dry cleaned) Many little amenities bronze screens for all
